Framed Trafalgar Waterloo Bronze Snuff Box Lid Nelson Napoleonic Antique
An unusual framed and glazed commemorative bronze snuff box lid, celebrating two of Britain’s most famous military victories – the Battle of Trafalgar in 1805 and the Battle of Waterloo in 1815.
The circular brass lid depicts two archetypal gentlemen in conversation and smoking, surrounded by commemorative inscriptions relating to the two historic battles:
“Victory Battle of Trafalgar 21st October 1805”
“Battle of Waterloo 18th June 1815”
The lid has subsequently been attractively mounted against a dark background and presented within a handsome maple frame, making it an excellent display piece.
Approximate measurements:
Overall frame: 24cm x 20cm
Brass snuff box lid: 7cm diameter
A fascinating piece of British military and social history with particular interest for collectors of Nelson and Trafalgar memorabilia, Napoleonic Wars items, Waterloo commemoratives, antique snuff boxes and militaria.
The frame shows age-related wear, marks and patination consistent with an older piece. Please examine the photographs carefully as they form part of the condition description.
An attractive and unusual historical commemorative piece, ready to display.
