Rare Pair of 19th Century Bertram & Son Mahogany Elbow Chairs for Restoration. Hepplewhite style, the dished oval backs with stylised scrolling feathers within carved husk frames over carved outscrolled arms, over stuffed and fluted and carved legs, both chairs impress with ‘Bertram & Son’ ‘Dean St, Oxford St W’
The firm of William Bertram & Son were established in 1830 and traded in Dean Street from 1839. They were both retailers and cabinetmakers specialising principally in brass inlaid and marquetry furniture. Literature: C Gilbert ed. ‘Pictorial Dictionary of Marked London Furniture 1700-1840, Leeds 1996, p.18.
These are gorgeous solid chairs but the decoration to the back support has loss and old breaks to one chair, which I’m sure a restorer could work his or her magic and restore to how they would have looked

They also need re upholstery as there is wear and holes to fabric.
