As Audrey Lee, she was born at Upper Norwood, Surrey on 21 January 1897, eldest daughter of Henry Lee, a solicitor, and his wife Florence Mary née Ions, who married at Newcastle in 1895. A self-taught artist who later attended sketching classes with Jack Merriott (1901-1968), R.I. and worked in watercolours. She married at Towcester, Northamptonshire in 1920, Frank Penn, M.C. (18 August 1884-23 April 1961) and their son John Penn [q.v.] was born at Towcester in 1921 and shortly afterwards they moved to Bawdsey Hall, Woodbridge, Suffolk from where Audrey did her painting. Audrey is especially known for her skies and marsh landscapes and has held one man exhibitions at Russell Gallery, Ipswich; Woodbridge Gallery later Deben Gallery, Woodbridge and Reid's Gallery, Aldeburgh and has exhibited at the Royal Institute of Painters in Watercolour.

As Mrs F. Penn, in 1933 she exhibited at the Ipswich Art Club from Bawdsey Hall, two watercolours 'Gobblecock Hall, Suffolk' and 'Crofter's Cottage at Ardnamurchan' and became a member from 1950 and at their centenary in 1974 her watercolour 'Debenham Mill' was exhibited. In 1939, living at Bawdsey Hall, Suffolk with four servants, where her husband Frank died in 1961, aged 76 and Audrey died at Hall Farm, Bawdsey on 21 February 1992.

The frame measures approx 49.5 x 41cm and there’s a couple of thunder flies under the glass.
