Circa 1900 Morton’s Ophthalmoscope made by A Clarkson & Co of London.

It was invented in 1851 by Herman Bon Helmholtz (1821-1894) Helmholtz used glass plates angled at 45 degrees to reflect sunlight into the eye. The Morton’s Ophthalmoscope has a ratchet mechanism which rotates two wheels of lenses in front of a perforated mirror.
