About the Artist

This work is attributed to Élise Guillermin (1851–1931), a Swiss-born artist who studied in Montpellier before continuing her artistic education in Paris at the Atelier Suisse and under Madame Delphine de Cool. Initially recognised for her finely painted porcelain plaques and decorative Art Nouveau designs, Guillermin later devoted much of her career to producing watercolours and oil paintings, particularly floral still lifes and botanical subjects. She exhibited her work in Paris, Bordeaux, Geneva, Zurich, Nice and other European cities, and was also a member of the Union of Women Painters and Sculptors, reflecting her standing within the artistic community of the period.
