Antique 19th C Ormolu & Natural Shell / Mother of Pearl Snuff Box / Trinket Box
A charming antique oval trinket or snuff box made from two natural halves of iridescent mother of pearl, joined by a delicate metal rim and hinge. Would have had a clasp but that is no longer present. The inside is beautifully lined in soft pink fabric with a twisted cord edging, adding a touch of elegance and protection for small treasures.
This pretty shell-shaped case would once have been used to hold a ring, earrings, or other keepsakes or possibly snuff but as it’s lined it was probably more for keepsakes.
