Rare WWII POW Hand-Carved Picture Frames – Hand Made by Prisoner of War
A fascinating and highly evocative pair of original World War II Prisoner of War (POW) handmade picture frames, beautifully carved and decorated by hand during captivity.
These frames are crafted from dark wood and richly adorned with hand-carved floral and ribbon motifs, enhanced with gilded highlights, giving them an ornate yet deeply personal character. The workmanship reflects the patience, skill, and creativity of POW camp craftsmanship, where such items were often made from limited materials as gifts, keepsakes, or to pass time.
Frames measure approx 20.5cm x 25.5cm and 19.5cm x 34cm so slightly differ in size
The inner picture size of the frames is approx 14cm x 9.5cm and 13.5cm x 9.5cm
Please see photos as they form part of the description
