Antique Chinese Famille Rose Style Porcelain Bowl, Scalloped Rim Gilt Decoration
A beautifully decorative Chinese porcelain bowl in the Famille Rose style, richly enamelled with hand-painted floral sprays featuring peonies and blossoms in pinks, purples and greens. The interior is finely detailed with a central floral medallion, surrounded by scrolling gilt borders and panelled reserves.
The bowl has an elegant scalloped rim, highlighted with extensive gilding and a deep iron-red ground decorated with stylised gilt foliage. The exterior continues the floral theme within shaped cartouches, interspersed with gilt scrolling and dot detailing. The whole piece displays a lovely soft sheen typical of well-fired porcelain.
To the base is a red square seal mark, in the traditional Chinese style, hand-applied under the glaze.
Measures approx 26.5cm X 11cm high
A very attractive and colourful piece, ideal for display, collectors of Chinese ceramics, or as an elegant centrepiece.
