A solid antique oak coffer or storage chest, dating to the late 18th / early 19th century in Georgian to early Victorian style. A wonderfully honest, untouched piece with rich, dark patina built up over centuries of use.
The front features three fielded panels, the central panel decorated with a simple carved floral motif, flanked by two plain panels. Letters T & A carved in front panel too. Probably the initials of the married couple. Subtle carved roundels and original lock escutcheon to the central cupboard section. Below are two deep drawers, offering excellent practical storage.
The piece retains its original surface, showing age-related wear, knocks, scratches and fading consistent with genuine antique furniture. The drawers run well, one fitted with an old brass handle, the other with its original pull and lock, missing the handle (key not present). Stands firmly on bracket feet.
This is a great country house / farmhouse piece, ideal for use as a blanket box, hallway storage, TV stand, or sideboard. Perfect for those who appreciate original antiques with real character rather than over-restored furniture.
