Hand-Carved Folk Art Traction Engine Table Lamp – Scratch Built – Brian Stephenson (Barnsley), 1990 – Working
A charming and unique hand-carved folk art table lamp, creatively modelled in the form of a traction engine. This is a scratch-built, one-off piece, handmade by Brian Stephenson of Barnsley and dated 1990.
Carved and assembled entirely by hand, the lamp has wonderful character and presence, capturing the solid, nostalgic feel of a traditional traction engine in a naïve folk art style. It is not a mass-produced item, but a genuinely individual piece of British handmade art. Hand painted decoration and the name Stephenson Fun Fair with scrolling across both sides of the traction engine.
The lamp is fully working and has been tested. When lit, it gives a warm, atmospheric glow and makes a great talking point—ideal for a country home, study, workshop, or for collectors of folk art, traction engine memorabilia, or steam-era decorative objects.
Measures approx 46cm wide x 62cm high
Will be carefully packed to protect the carving and electrical fittings during transit.
