A scarce and highly decorative pair of French Art Deco ceramic bookends, modelled as stylised skiing figures in motion, attributed to E Hadji in collaboration with Marcel Renson.
Beautifully sculpted with flowing robes and dynamic posture, these figures capture the spirit of early alpine sport and continental Art Deco design. Crazing to the glaze, they make an eye-catching display whether used as bookends or as standalone decorative sculptures.
Both pieces retain their original form and matching bases, bearing the maker’s signature to the side.
One figure has a knock / chip to the back (clearly shown in photos) and the odd nick here and there. Please see all photos as they form part of the description.
General age-related crazing to glaze throughout, consistent with period.
Otherwise structurally sound and display well.
