A rare and historically important original Victorian mezzotint by George Baxter, dated 1853 and titled “Me Warm Now.”
This touching scene depicts a young boy seated beside a hearth, rendered with Baxter’s characteristic warmth and detail, and hand coloured with pastels. The work is widely associated with imagery produced during the British and Foreign Anti-Slavery Society era, making it both a decorative and socially significant collectible.
