A charming original oil on board coastal seascape by the British artist Thomas McArthur (1915–1993). About the Artist:
Thomas McArthur was born in London in 1915. He attended Tottenham Grammar School and later studied at Hornsey School of Art from 1930. McArthur was a founder member of the Wood Green Art Society before moving to Somerset where he worked as both a painter and teacher, eventually settling in Crewkerne. During his career he exhibited widely and was associated with the New English Art Club (NEAC) and also exhibited at the Royal Society of Marine Artists (RSMA), the Royal Society of British Artists (RBA) and the Royal Institute of Painters (RP).
His works often depict tranquil landscapes and coastal scenes, painted with a confident and expressive brush.
