A charming antique portrait engraving depicting James Boswell (1740–1795), the renowned Scottish biographer best known for his work on Samuel Johnson.
This finely executed engraving is after the original painting by Sir Joshua Reynolds (1723–1792), one of the most celebrated portrait artists of the 18th century and founding President of the Royal Academy.
The portrait captures Boswell in classic Georgian style, rendered in a soft monochrome palette typical of late 19th century reproductions. The print is presented within a simple black frame and mounted behind glass.
