This charming rural scene captures a shepherd guiding his flock across a shallow stream into a tranquil English village, framed by striking winter trees and rustic fencing. The composition is rich in detail and enhanced with delicate hand colouring, giving it warmth and depth typical of late Victorian decorative prints.
Published in London by Robert Dunthorne, The Rembrandt Head, Vigo Street, a respected fine art dealer and publisher of the period.
