The Great War For Civilisation 1914-1919 WWI Medal, 10893 A.C SJT A.E James, Shropshire L.I Regiment
A genuine First World War British Victory Medal with its original rainbow ribbon, awarded to Acting Company Sergeant (A.C Sjt) A.E. James of the King’s Shropshire Light Infantry. The reverse features the winged figure of Victory, while the obverse bears the inscription “The Great War For Civilisation 1914-1919.”
The Victory Medal was awarded to British and Allied servicemen who served in a theatre of war during WWI between 1914 and 1918. It was commonly issued alongside the British War Medal and recognised those who saw active service overseas during the conflict.
This example has attractive age-related patina and remains a poignant piece of military history connected to one of Britain’s distinguished infantry regiments.
