A charming and elegant Victorian walnut sewing table dating from the late 19th century, featuring an attractive octagonal form and beautifully figured walnut veneers throughout. The hinged top lifts to reveal a fitted interior lined with original patterned fabric, complete with compartmentalised storage for sewing accessories, threads, needles and other haberdashery items.
The table stands on a distinctive tapering octagonal pedestal support, raised on a graceful tripod base with shaped cabriole legs, giving it both stability and decorative appeal. The rich walnut grain, particularly to the top, displays wonderful burr and figured patterns that enhance its character.
A practical and decorative piece of Victorian furniture, equally suited for use as a sewing table, work table, occasional table or statement piece in a traditional or period interior.
Good antique condition overall with age-related wear, marks and minor imperfections consistent with use and age. Some lifting / marks to surface as I’ve tried to share in photos, but still looks great. Interior fabric shows expected wear and ageing.
