A handsome Victorian cast iron fire kerb (also known as a fireplace fender), dating from the mid to late 19th century and featuring an attractive Gothic Revival design. The front is decorated with a repeating pierced fleur-de-lis motif beneath a moulded top rail, flanked by substantial end posts with decorative finials and carved detailing.
Finished in traditional black cast iron, this fender would make an impressive addition to a period fireplace, adding both character and authenticity to a Victorian, Edwardian or country house interior.
