Rupert Aker – Artist Biography


Rupert Aker is a contemporary British landscape painter based in Painswick, Gloucestershire, in the heart of the Cotswolds. Born in 1972, he is largely self-taught and draws inspiration from the hills, valleys, meadows and hedgerows surrounding his home. Aker often works en plein air, using oils and palette knife techniques to capture the changing light and atmosphere of the landscape.


His paintings are known for their emotional quality, textured surfaces and subtle colour harmonies. Rupert has exhibited widely throughout the UK and has developed a strong collector following, with works held in private collections both in Britain and internationally. He has collaborated with organisations including the National Trust and his work is regularly shown by leading contemporary galleries specialising in British landscape art.
