A beautiful and authentic 19th-century Italian lava cameo brooch, finely hand-carved with the profile of a classical lady wearing an elaborate feathered headdress. Crafted from natural volcanic lava stone, these exquisite pieces were produced around Naples and sold to wealthy travellers undertaking the Victorian Grand Tour of Europe.
The carving displays excellent depth and detail, with the warm terracotta tones characteristic of antique lava cameos. An elegant and highly collectible example of Victorian Grand Tour jewellery.
