Yvonne Stirling Original Painting “Claude’s Sheep” EAC Art Awards 2004 Finalist

$266.48

A wonderfully colourful and atmospheric original painting by British artist Yvonne Stirling, entitled “Claude’s Sheep”, accompanied by its original exhibition certificate.

The work depicts a flock of sheep grazing amongst a richly coloured country landscape. Stirling has used a particularly attractive palette of soft greens, blues and creams contrasted with deeper burgundy, purple and russet tones, giving the picture a lively, almost impressionistic quality.

The sheep emerge from layers of expressive vegetation and wild flowers, with the landscape becoming progressively softer towards the distant fields and trees. It is a very appealing contemporary rural composition with excellent decorative presence.

What makes this particular work especially interesting is its documented exhibition history.

The original certificate attached to the reverse states:

Yvonne Stirling was selected as a finalist in the EAC Art Awards 2004 and her picture “Claude’s Sheep” was hung at The Business Design Centre, London, in July 2004.

The certificate remains attached to the reverse of the framed work, providing excellent provenance.

The reverse also retains an original handwritten label bearing Yvonne Stirling’s name and a Rickmansworth, Hertfordshire address, together with the title “Claude’s Sheep.”
