Ayoub Bishai 4 Egyptian Orientalist Prints Pyramids Cairo Camels Framed Vintage
An attractive set of four Egyptian Orientalist prints after watercolour paintings by Ayoub Bishai, presented together in a single glazed wooden frame with a cream mount.
The four atmospheric scenes depict classic views of Egypt, including the Pyramids and Great Sphinx of Giza, Cairo mosques and minarets, desert landscapes and camel riders.
Ayoub Bishai is associated with a distinctive series of Egyptian views reproduced by the Eastern Publishing Company of Cairo. The Smithsonian Institution archives hold examples from the series and specifically record a set of 10 artistic postcards reproducing watercolour paintings by Ayoub Bishai, confirming the connection between the artist and Eastern Publishing Company.
Bishai’s compositions are characterised by their soft, muted palette and romanticised treatment of Egypt’s desert landscape, architecture and monuments. Individual examples in the Smithsonian collection include views of the Pyramids, desert scenes and other Egyptian subjects, often bearing the A. Bishai signature.
This framed group brings four complementary Bishai images together in one decorative display, making it particularly appealing for collectors of Egyptian, Orientalist, travel and Middle Eastern art.
The frame measures approx 39.5 x 29.5cm
