19thC William Bennett NWS 1811-1871 Original Watercolour Cattle Drovers Castle
William Bennett NWS (1811–1871) – Cattle Drovers by a Bridge with Distant Castle – Original 19th Century Watercolour
A charming and atmospheric antique British landscape watercolour attributed to William Bennett NWS (1811–1871), depicting cattle drovers crossing a shallow river beside a rustic stone bridge, with an imposing castle visible through the trees in the distance.
This beautifully composed rural scene captures the tranquillity of the English countryside, with towering trees, soft autumnal tones and a dramatic cloud-filled sky.
A figure stands on the bridge while a drover guides cattle through the water, bringing life and movement to the peaceful landscape.
The delicate colouring, fine detail and traditional composition are characteristic of nineteenth-century British landscape painting.
