Historical Interest

Samovars were an important part of Russian domestic and social life, particularly during the 19th century, when tea drinking became deeply established in Russian culture.

The town of Tula became internationally renowned for its samovar manufacturers, many of whom proudly displayed exhibition medals and awards on their products.

The multiple stamped medallions on this example are particularly evocative of that tradition, although the individual manufacturer has not yet been positively identified.

A wonderful opportunity to acquire a substantial antique Russian samovar with fascinating historic Cyrillic markings, ideal for collectors, period interiors or as a distinctive decorative centrepiece.
