A beautiful antique or early vintage lithographic print after a painting by the celebrated British artist Dame Laura Knight RA (1877–1970), renowned for her wonderful depictions of ballet dancers, theatrical performers and backstage scenes.
This atmospheric composition depicts two elegant ballerinas in delicate white tutus seated backstage, with one dancer extending her arm towards fellow performers. The scene beautifully captures the grace, movement and intimate atmosphere of the ballet, with soft muted colours, flowing costumes and dramatic contrasts of light and shadow.
