A beautiful and substantial antique 19th-century marble pedestal column, featuring an elegant spiral barley twist design and attractive natural veining throughout.
Dating to the Victorian period, this decorative pedestal is crafted from richly coloured cream, honey-yellow and brown veined marble, with contrasting grey and white tones.
The column features a beautifully carved spiral twist shaft, decorative moulded bands around the centre, a classical flared capital and a square marble display platform with gently rounded corners.
The lower section incorporates a turned cylindrical support, resting upon a stepped circular plinth and substantial octagonal base.
A striking example of Victorian decorative stonework, suitable for displaying a sculpture, bronze, bust, ornament or other decorative object. Equally attractive as a standalone architectural feature in a traditional or period interior.
Antique condition with age-related wear, surface marks, scratches, small chips and imperfections consistent with its considerable age.
