Beautiful Vintage Chinese Cloisonné Enamel Vase – Phoenix & Floral Decoration – Carved Wooden Stand
A beautiful and highly decorative Chinese cloisonné enamel vase, featuring an exquisite depiction of a colourful phoenix in flight amongst flowering peonies and lush green foliage.
The vase has an elegant baluster-shaped body with a rounded shoulder and long, slender cylindrical neck, beautifully finished with a brass rim.
The intricate cloisonné decoration features a magnificent phoenix, traditionally associated in Chinese culture with prosperity, harmony, good fortune and renewal.
The bird is depicted with wonderfully detailed plumage in vibrant shades of turquoise blue, emerald green, golden yellow and deep red, surrounded by beautifully enamelled flowers and foliage.
Particularly attractive is the finely worked white enamel ground, decorated throughout with a delicate repeating cloud-like pattern, providing a striking contrast to the colourful central design.
The neck is finished with an ornamental border of stylised floral motifs and hanging tassels, while the interior displays a rich cobalt-blue enamel finish.
The vase rests upon an attractive, dark wooden display stand with carved detailing, which complements the piece beautifully.
Measures approx 26cm in height including the plinth
