A beautifully decorative antique-style stoneware tobacco jar featuring intricate raised scrolling foliage, rich earthy glazes and an attractive engraved brass lid.
The cylindrical stoneware body is decorated with bold swirling Art Nouveau-style motifs in deep cobalt blue, olive green and warm brown against a textured buff-coloured background.
Fine rows of applied floral beading and repeating geometric patterns surround the upper and lower sections, giving the piece wonderful texture and character.
The removable brass lid features an engraved floral design with an elegant pointed finial, providing a particularly attractive finishing touch.
The underside bears an impressed pottery mark, 1881 and Doulton Lambeth
