Eric Holt (1944–1997) Original Oil Painting English Windmill Landscape Gilt Frame
A very attractive original oil painting by listed British artist Eric Holt (1944–1997), depicting a traditional English windmill set within a wonderfully atmospheric rural landscape.
The windmill dominates the composition beneath a dramatic cloud-filled sky, with a small farm building and haystack alongside. Two figures bring the scene to life – one standing at the gate in the foreground and another on the raised platform of the mill.
Holt has captured the countryside beautifully, using a restrained palette of earthy greens, ochres and browns, with particularly effective treatment of the expansive sky. The visible canvas texture and confident handling of the paint add considerable character.
Signed “Eric Holt” lower right.
Presented in an attractive traditional ornate gilt frame, which complements the painting particularly well.
Overall framed size: approximately 70cm x 60cm.
