A fine early-19th-century steel-engraved and hand-coloured map of Middlesex, published by Pigot & Co. circa 1831. This wonderfully detailed map charts the historic county of Middlesex, including London and surrounding parishes, roads, rivers and important local features.
The map features original period hand-colouring, delicately highlighting the county borders and waterways in soft green tones. Additional decorative elements include a classic compass rose, detailed legend, and an elegant vignette of St Paul’s Cathedral to the right-hand corner.
Beautifully presented in a traditional gilt frame with a double mount. The frame shows some expected age-related wear and areas of flaking / chip loss to the finish, adding authentic antique charm.
