A very attractive original watercolour painting by G. Marler, signed by the artist lower right.
The painting depicts a wonderfully atmospheric English country scene with traditional houses beside a quiet road, surrounded by mature trees. Marler has used a restrained palette of warm autumnal browns, ochres, greys and blues, with particularly effective washes creating depth and atmosphere amongst the trees.
The architectural details of the houses contrast beautifully with the looser treatment of the surrounding landscape and sky.
About the Artist
Works signed G. Marler appear periodically on the British art market, particularly accomplished watercolours depicting rural, coastal and fishing subjects. Recorded examples include views around Suffolk, including Somerleyton and Herringfleet.
Although biographical information concerning this particular British watercolourist appears to be limited, the artist has developed a recognisable and accomplished watercolour style and signed examples are sought after by collectors of traditional British watercolours.

Condition: Good vintage condition overall. There is some age-related marking/foxing to the mount or it could be on the glass but it doesn’t affect the art itself so just needs a clean and otherwise in good condition
